With 14 years of experience, Ke Xu is a master of the traditional Zigong lighting principle: “conveying spirit through light, shaping form with shadow.” He focuses on the atmospheric and emotional quality of illumination – the subtle play of warm and cool tones, the way light wraps around silk, and how shadow defines a creature’s posture and expression. His lighting breathes with the rhythm of the night, creating a serene, immersive experience that honors centuries of cultural aesthetics.
His main projects include the 2023 Asian Lantern Festival(Cleveland, OH), 2024 Boston Lights (Boston, MA) and 2025 Zoo Luminate (South Bend, IN).
I make the color and brightness of light breathe with the rhythm of the night — accompanying every lantern’s narrative.
