Ziming Luo is an outstanding fine art master and senior creative director with over 14 years of experience in creating large-scale traditional Chinese lantern festivals. A graduate of the Oil Painting Department of Chengdu Academy of Fine Arts, he is renowned for seamlessly blending classical painting techniques with contemporary lantern art and has been praised by Chinese media as a “top-tier lantern art master of the new generation.” His expertise covers the entire lantern-making process: from artistic concept and structural design to handcrafting, on-site artistic realization, and final artistic tuning. His work is deeply rooted in Zigong lantern tradition, a centuries-old folk culture with profound historical meaning. He has been featured in over 40 media outlets as a key inheritor and innovator.
Ziming is known for pushing artistic boundaries, such as in the highly acclaimed “Luo Shen” lantern set where he innovatively mixed metal cloth, translucent fabric, and PVC to achieve delicate artistic expression. He also leads, trains, and coordinates large cross-cultural artisan teams, ensuring the authentic transmission of Zigong lantern heritage overseas. His projects include the 2021 Xi’an Daming Palace Lantern Festival, 2022 Xi’an City Wall Lantern Festival, 2022 Boston Lights (MA), 2023 Glow Wild Lantern Festival (Bridgeport, CT), 2023 North Carolina Chinese Lantern Festival (Cary, NC), 2023 Shen Du Lantern Banquet (Luoyang, China), 2024 Zhengding City Wall Lantern Festival (Xi’an, China), as well as exhibitions in Vivid Sydney (Australia), Milwaukee, Cleveland, Boston, Paris (France), and Cologne & Halle (Germany).
