With 15 years of experience, Li Miao focuses on mythical birds and zodiac animals, especially the layering of feathers and the handling of complex curved surfaces. She is a master of the intangible cultural heritage principle of “following the shape, precise color separation, even light transmission.” Her signature technique involves building up peacock tails and phoenix wings in multiple translucent layers, creating depth and iridescence without wrinkles or light leakage. Her work shows even light distribution and full texture.
She has worked on international lantern exhibitions in Malaysia and U.S. cities like Wichita, Buffalo and Cary.
A peacock’s layered tail feathers are “grown” one translucent layer at a time.
