Kaiyuan Fu graduated from the School of Fine Arts at Sichuan University of Science & Engineering. In his early career, he participated in many large-scale lantern festivals like Nanjing Confucius Temple, Jinan Baotu Spring, Tangshan Lantern Festival, and Xining Lantern Festival.
Since 2018, Kaiyuan has worked on international projects, serving in design and on-site artistic direction roles for the National Museum of Natural History in Paris, Franklin Park Zoo in Boston, Boerner Botanical Gardens in Milwaukee, and the Halle Lantern Festival in Germany.
He has a strong belief in adapting designs to local conditions. Every lantern’s position, color, and scale is adjusted according to terrain, vegetation, and visitor flow. At every new site, he walks the venue in advance.
Every venue tells a different story – we just help it glow.
