Liang Li graduated from Sichuan University of Science & Engineering, majoring in Oil Painting. He has participated in lantern design and on-site art direction in more than 20 Chinese cities, including Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Chongqing, Xi’an, Shenyang, Chengdu, and Zigong.
Since 2019, Liang has focused on the U.S. market, designing for Hogle Zoo in Salt Lake City, Houston Botanic Garden, Oakland Zoo, Sedgwick County Zoo in Wichita, and the Wilbur D. May Arboretum & Botanical Gardens in Reno. With a background in oil painting, he is skilled at controlling color layering and texture in lantern design.
He enjoys photography and painting, often visiting zoos at night with his camera.
When the lights come on, the animal lanterns feel alive in another way. I want our lanterns to be night paintings.
