Jie Huang has 12 years of experience in lantern shaping and on-site artistic realization of Zigong lantern heritage. He translates flat patterns into three-dimensional forms, adjusting the rhythm of curves and the balance of volumes to match the venue’s spatial feel. His strength lies in maintaining the traditional “spirit” of a figure while adapting its posture to fit unexpected site conditions.
He has contributed to lantern exhibitions in Paris, Boston, Orlando, Louisville, Bridgeport, Cary and Wichita.
From flat patterns to three-dimensional shapes, I judge the dignity of every curve – whether it’s a gate tower’s flying eaves or a mythical beast’s waist.
